IHCL And Adani Sign Eight Hotels

Adani Airport Holdings Limited and The Indian Hotels Company Limited signed agreements on 29 October 2026 for eight hotels with more than 2,000 rooms. The hotels will sit at or near airports in Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow and Guwahati. Adani will develop the properties and IHCL will operate them. The brands named are three Taj hotels, two Vivanta hotels, one Gateway hotel and two Ginger hotels. Most of the hotels are expected to open in three to four years.

Mumbai will get a Taj at Terminal 2. Lucknow will get a Vivanta and a Ginger. Ahmedabad will get a Taj and a Vivanta, both already under construction. Guwahati will get a Taj, a Gateway and a Ginger. Adani has formed Adani Airport City Limited to develop more than 655 acres across several airports, with a first-phase plan of over ₹20,000 crore. With these additions, IHCL says it will have 25 hotels at key Indian airports across its brands.

Our view is that Adani gains branded demand for its airport city land, and IHCL gains a large airport inventory without putting up the buildings. Independent hotels near these airports will face more branded competition once the new rooms open. What coverage has not stressed is that construction has already started in Mumbai, Lucknow and Ahmedabad, so the pipeline is real, not only a press line. Airport hotels in India have usually filled with transit and early-morning flight demand once they open. We expect the first of these eight hotels to open within four years, and at least one more Adani hotel brand deal within 18 months. Confidence: medium.

This is important for our readers because more than 2,000 branded airport rooms are now in the plan for four cities. If you own or manage a hotel near these airports, model the new supply against your current rates this week. If you sell corporate travel, ask IHCL when each city will open for group rates. If you supply fit-out, linen or food to airports, contact Adani Airport City about the first-phase build.
