Taj GVK Renames Itself Krishna GVK
Taj GVK Hotels & Resorts Limited is now called Krishna GVK Luxury Hotels Limited. The new name took effect on 30 October 2026, and the company told the stock exchanges on 31 October. The Registrar of Companies’ central processing centre approved the name on 5 August 2026. Shareholders approved the change at the annual general meeting on 9 September 2026. The company’s corporate identity number stays the same.
A name change on its own does not alter a company’s assets, debts or contracts. Sahi Markets reports that legal obligations, share structure and operations continue as before. Shareholders keep the same shares, and exchange records will move to the new name. Dropping Taj from the corporate name stands out, because Taj is the hotel brand of IHCL. The filings reported so far do not explain why the company chose the new name.
Our view is that the change mainly helps GVK build a corporate identity it fully controls. Shareholders lose nothing on paper, though a new name can confuse retail investors for a few weeks. What coverage misses is the question you should ask: will the brand agreements at the company’s hotels change at all? The filing says contracts stay valid, so guests should see no change for now. When Indian hotel owners rename their companies, the hotel brands that guests see usually stay in place unless a separate management contract ends. We predict the company’s hotels will keep their current brands for at least the next 12 months, and that any change in brand arrangements will appear in an exchange filing first. Confidence: medium.
This is important for our readers because vendors, travel agents and corporate clients deal with the legal entity, not the hotel brand. Update the company name on your contracts, invoices and vendor records this week. If you hold the shares, check that your broker and demat statement show the new name. If you book these hotels for corporate clients, ask your account manager to confirm in writing that rate agreements carry over.
