Marriott Signs Le Meridien Rishikesh
Marriott International signed an agreement with Himalayan Bliss Spa and Resorts for Le Meridien Rishikesh Resort and Spa. The announcement was reported on 28 October 2026. The resort is planned for 120 rooms and suites and is slated to open in the fourth quarter of 2028. Planned facilities include an all-day dining restaurant, a lobby lounge, meeting and event space, a fitness centre, a pool, a spa, a kids club and an activity centre. The site will sit near Laxman Jhula, the Beatles Ashram and Triveni Ghat, about 20 km from Jolly Grant Airport.
This is a brand signing, not an opening. Himalayan Bliss will own and develop the resort, and Marriott will manage it under Le Meridien. Kiran Andicot, senior vice president for South Asia at Marriott, said the deal fits Marriott’s push into spiritual destinations in India. Designated partner Girish Agarwal said the project should create hundreds of direct jobs. Le Meridien’s mid-century modern design will be adapted to local cues.
Our view is that Marriott gains a flag in a busy wellness town, while Himalayan Bliss gains a global booking engine. Independent ashrams and boutique hotels in Rishikesh will compete for the same high-spend leisure guest once the resort opens. Q4 2028 is still two years away, so construction risk remains. Marriott signings in India have often opened close to the stated quarter when land and finance are already in place. We expect a soft opening in late 2028 if permits stay on track, and Marriott to sign one more Uttarakhand hotel within 18 months. Confidence: medium.
This is important for our readers because a 120-room international brand resort is now dated for Rishikesh in 2028. If you sell wellness travel to Rishikesh, ask Marriott when wholesale rates will open. If you run a boutique hotel there, plan your 2028 winter pricing against a new Le Meridien. If you hire hospitality staff in Uttarakhand, watch Himalayan Bliss for pre-opening roles from 2027.
